Baby Sea Turtles

"This little guy is Alfonso, this one is Rosa Maria, this one is Pedro, this one is Antonio Jr..." Antonio introduced you to his group of baby sea turtles. Antonio worked as a volunteer for a Sea Turtle Rescue and today he invited you to help release the baby sea turtles.

"And this is Julio, this one's Rosita Juanita Chiquita, this one's Nachos, these three are Alonso, Francisco, and Jesus-they're amigos, and this one's my favorite, Lil' Diablo. Lil' Diablo's actually a girl." He laughed.

"How can you tell them all apart?" You asked.

"Well, all the doctors and scientists who work here can tell them apart but I honestly have no clue."

You laughed. "They're so cute!"

"Si! Now help me put them into this box and we'll bring them to the beach." Very gently, the two of you placed the baby sea turtles into the card board box. Antonio lead you down a trail to the beach. It was almost sunset and the tide was low.

You looked down into the box. "I almost don't want to let them go. They're so adorable!"

Antonio chuckled. "I know... We'll have more little guys at the Turtle Rescue soon though. These guys can't wait to get out there!"

You smiled. "You ready?"

"Yep!" He chimed. You set the box down on the sand and began taking the turtles.

"Adios my babies!" Antonio called as the two of you watch them slowly make their way to the sea. "Make good choices! Don't do anything I wouldn't do! Don't talk to sharks! Stay away from Party Boats! Don't go home with any sea lions!"

You giggled. "You're such a good daddy." You jumped when you felt something stroke your foot. When you looked down you saw one of the baby sea turtles trying to climb up your leg.

"Hey little guy, you're going the wrong way!" You smiled and picked up the baby turtle.

"Good luck!" You gave him a little kiss on the head and set him back on the sand facing the sea. He quickly made his was to the water, trying to catch up with his brothers and sisters.

"That was Antonio Jr." Antonio chuckled. "I know because he's a ladies man."

You giggled. "There they go..." You watched as Antonio Jr. was the last one to run head first into the tide.

Antonio sighed. "I'm going to miss them." He sat down on the sand and patted the ground, asking you to take a seat beside him. "Ya know, about forty out of one hundred baby sea turtles survive to adulthood. Sometimes as little as one out of a hundred..."

"They'll be fine, Toni. They had a good daddy." You smiled at him reassuringly.

Antonio looked down at you and smiled. "Gracias." He wrapped his arm around you and pulled you closer. In your head you let out a girly squeal and giggle. 'He's holding me so close! *giggle snort*'

"Wow, look at that sunset." He exclaimed as he looked out toward the ocean.

"It's beautiful." You sighed. You were half talking about the sunset, half talking about him. Antonio + Sunset over the ocean = Heaven on earth.

After a few moments of comfortable silence as the to of you watched the sunset, Antonio spoke. "Thank you for releasing the turtles with me." He took his eyes off of the sunset and looked at you.

"Thank you for inviting me. I had a lot of fun." You smiled up at him.

"Good." Without warning, he leaned over and kissed you gently on the lips.

You looked up at him in shock.

Antonio chuckled and blushed. "I was jealous of Antonio Jr."

You giggled and gave him a quick peck on the lips. "Don't be jealous. You have better hair."

Antonio chuckled. "But turtles don't have hair."

"Exactly, he's bald and your hair is perfect and fluffy."

Antonio laughed and pulled you into a big hug. "I love you… My little sea turtle."

"You're so cheesy!"

"Mmmhmm~Like cheddar."
